Originally trained at Universities in Birmingham and Bradford a significant part of his early career involved the transmission of images leading onto the application of digital images for a range of creative applications.
Mixed media, oil, watercolour, acrylic ink and collage are all used to create textural impressionism. The emphasis being upon capturing not only the image but the inherent feel of the subject in an expeditious way.
Over the last 15 years the development of his work has come from a personal search of all aspects of art and has included painting with many professional artists in the UK and the USA.
In recent years new developments in digital imagery have seen his work expand to include digital art, fractal images and monoprints, as well as more conventional photographs, particularly of textural subjects.
The predominating work at present is in mixed media where the use of gesso has created a particular and distinctive style. The use of vibrant colours, particularly acrylic inks, depth and fast execution adds to the immediacy of the work. The subject matter is drawn from landscapes, seascapes and lightscapes.
David is a professional member of the East Riding Artists Group.
